Checks you can make yourself

Check the person’s licence

A physician assistant provides medical care but is not a doctor. In Idaho, the medicine board issues their licence.

Ask a physician assistant: “Will you examine me, and are you allowed to prescribe the medicine you are offering?”

As of September 2026, Idaho’s licensing office lets you look up pharmacies, nurses, physician assistants and doctors at no charge.

Use the Idaho medicine board for doctors and physician assistants. Use the Idaho nursing board for nurses. Use the Idaho pharmacy board for the pharmacy that supplies your medicine.

On each board’s page, choose the licence-search link and enter the full name you were given.

A clean record means no action taken against the licence is listed publicly. It does not tell you whether anyone has complained or how good the care is.

Check what the medicine is

In the US, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reviews medicines.

Read the FDA pages below about made-to-order medicines, limits on copies and research labels.

Ask the treating person how the FDA information applies to the exact medicine you were offered. If their explanation differs, ask them to explain the difference before you decide.

The federal medicine and price notes reflect September 26, 2026; the Idaho notes reflect September 30, 2026.

Before choosing care, open the links above to check for updates. Ask the person treating you what any change means for your visit.
